Rosemary
The heady smell of this herb always reminds me of my mother, who told me,"It takes a good heart to grow rosemary." She did this while handing me a small roesmary topiary as a gift. It didn't make it.
Years later, I have better luck with the plant that, however moody, thrives in the right conditions. It is an evergreen with thin needle-like leaves. Rosemary is drought tolerant and doesn't like too much love in teh form of overwatering. It tolerates both well-draining sandy and humic-rich soils, provided that they are circum neutral pH. Give rosemary lots of sun, and be patient with germination.
