Texas Bluebonnets
One of the many bluebonnets of Texas, this one is the easiest to grow, and is - reportedly - THE Texas Bluebonnet. I'm not from Texas, so if you are and know the lore, you could email me and I can share.
This particular one is among the easiest to grow, reaches 18"-24" and has bold blue spikes tipped in white. It is a hardy annual and loves full sun. It requires well draining soils. In heavy soil, it will germinate, but not establish. Its root systems work in tandem with Rhizobium to fix nitrogen and improve soil fertility.
The best time to plant these beauties is September. They grow all winter and bloom in early spring. Unfortunately, you won't have much luck if you're where it gets cold.
