American Holly

Ilex opaca
American Holly is a native to the Eastern United States. It has deep green leaves year round, and bright red berries that are tree that can reach around 75 feet tall.
The berries are an important food source for song birds in the winter, are poisonous to humans. Bees love to pollinate the flowers.

It is a close relative and bears a striking resemblance to European Holly, which is mentioned in so many Christmas carols.
